Chevy SSR Accessories
Premiering in 2003 for the 2004 model year, the Chevy SSR is a convertible pickup truck known for its smooth lines and unusual body-style. It was constructed off of Chevy’s EXT platform and featured a steel retractable hardtop. 
Chevy gave the model a hard-court press right away in terms of marketing, featuring it a variety of ads, most notably a 60 second commercial that first aired on New Year’s Eve of 2003 and carried on into the first quarter of 2004. The Chevy SSR was also pegged as the pace car for the 2003 Indianapolis 500.
The model was initially outfitted with a 5.3L Vortec V8 capable of around 300 horsepower but grew into a 5.7L V8 that showed off an extra 50 HP. In 2005, the engine was upgraded to a 6.0L that threw out up to 400 horsepower and was more adept at powering the almost 5,000 pound vehicle. Throughout the first model year, only a four-speed automatic was offered, but in 2005 when the engine was improved a six-speed manual transmission became available, as well. Because of the unique build of the Chevy SSR, its dimensions are not typical for a domestic truck. For the first year, the wheelbase is listed at 116 inches, with 191.4 inches in length, 78.6 inches in width, and a height of 64.2 inches. In 2005, the wheelbase and width didn’t change, but length was increased to 191.5 inches and height to 63.8 inches, respectively.
Up front, 19 inch wheels were employed while the back, 20 inch wheels were used. The Chevy SSR showcased just one standard trim which included leather seats, remote-keyless entry, cruise control, power locks and windows, and of course, the power convertible hardtop. Options such as heated seats and automatic-dimming mirrors were also available along with dealer customs such as chrome wheels, chrome accents, and colored bed strips, since Chevy made it a point to market the SSR for its style. As for safety features, front and side airbags and antilock brakes were the main attractions.
